Section B: Your Participation in the Research Project

Why you have been invited to take part: Your experiences of ageing, what is it like to be a post menopausal woman in the twenty first century when the role of older women may be undergoing change, will be crucial to the study.

1. Whether you can refuse to take part: Whilst I would value your participation in this research, you do not have to take part in this research.

2. Whether you can withdraw at any time and how: You can withdraw at any time - just cut off and send the slip on your consent form to the address above.

3. What will happen if you agree to take part: Procedures will be explained in detail and you will be asked to sign a permission slip agreeing to the use of quotes etc. from the interviews. We will arrange to meet for about an hour, somewhere comfortable and convenient for us both. The interview will be recorded and you can see transcripts if you wish. I will take a few digital images of you for discussion which will be deleted immediately after the interview. A special website will be created for work in progress but will not include any images of you or anything to identify you.

4. Whether there are any risks involved e.g. side effects from taking part and if so what will be done to ensure your wellbeing. There are very unlikely to be any risks but interviews would stop immediately should you not wish to continue for any reason.

5. Agreement to participate in this research should not compromise your legal rights should something go wrong.

6. Whether there are any special precautions you must take before during or after taking part in the study: You won't need to take any special precautions.

7. What will happen to any information/quotes that are collected from you:
Information and quotes will be used in the written part of the study and will help me to create some photographs that represent how life may be changing for post menopausal women. Models will be used for the photography.

8. Whether there are any benefits from taking part: I hope you will enjoy the process!

9. How your participation in the project will be kept confidential.
All quotes etc. will be anonymous to prevent recognition of any kind; notes and recordings will be stored on cds kept in a locked metal cupboard as required by the Data Protection Act. Anything on laptop will be accessed by its own password. You will not appear in any of the photographic work either on a website or portfolio.
The photographs taken at interview, as already mentioned, will be deleted.

YOU WILL BE GIVEN A COPY OF THIS TO KEEP TOGETHER WITH A COPY OF YOUR CONSENT FORM.
